BROWNSVILLE COMMUNITY

Picture

Our presence in the Diocese of Brownsville, Texas began in January 1970. Our residence and mission are in Brownsville, the southernmost city in Texas. It is in the lower Rio Grande Valley along the US-Mexican border.

Our primary mission is to serve a culturally diverse Hispanic population. Many of these diverse population are from Mexico, Central America, and South America.

Also, we are involved in parish ministry, social service which includes bringing food to the migrants in Matamoros, visits to the Detention Centers for migrant children and youth and visiting the sick and bringing communion to them.

Christ is the center of our lives. We follow his example by reaching out to the socially and economically disadvantaged particularly families in need. We endeavor to care for the poor and the needy as true Disciples of Christ.
